These adventures are tree top canopy "cable slide" rides for thrill seekers.  The canopy tours are located at the Tabyana Beach Gumbalimba Park and Palmetto Bay.  In West End at the Tabayana Beach Resort or Gumbalima Park you will be outfitted with mountain climbing equipment and a harness.  A truck will then take you and your guide through the Lighthouse Estates to the top of the mountain.  From the initial jump  off station, you are given explicit instructions how to survive the adventure.  You will be making the ride strapped to a guide to 11 platforms. They offer two different cable systems rides, one for beginners and one for thrill seekers.  The first leg is quite tame but builds your confidence that you'll need to continue.  Each starting point has its own cable system and will take you at various speeds over the tree canopies toward the beach.  The last leg of the slide is 200 meters right to the beach.  "Snuba" or snorkeling (www.snubaroatan.com or 946-5559) with the assistance of an air float system is also available.  Further information may be obtained by email at [email protected] or check www.canopytoursroatan.com for details about the Gumbalimba Park (www.gumbalimbapark.com).  This tour is offered by most cruise ships or just take a taxi to Tabayana Beach Resort in West Bay.  The park is open 7 days a week and is open from 8 AM to 5 PM.

In Palmetto Bay, there is a new 20 platform slide that has recently opened.  Palmetto Bay has a very nice beach in a lagoon setting.  There is a restaurant located here and you will enjoy not having the crowds of the West Bay beach area.  The organizers of the beach excursion provide the transportation to Palmetto Bay.  Other than the secluded beach, no crowds, restaurant and new slide, you are own.  You may need to get a taxi or tour ride to the area.  Be sure to see our locator maps and select in the drop down box "Airport to French Harbour" to see the location of Palmetto Bay.  This area is definitely off the main tourist paths.  More information about the Palmetto Bay canopy slide will be posted soon.
